A Sincere Apology

As I’m sure most readers are aware by now, there was an incident last December in which I was falsely accused of slandering Jamhal Talib Abdullah Bey, founder of the Rise of the Moors organization. Although initially giving my accusers the opportunity to resolve the matter, it remained unresolved until recently – thanks to the unbiased mediation of DeVonte Bennett Bey and Njambi Waweru El, Secretary of the Interim-Special Committee (ISC).

Although my accusers did not sufficiently prove their original claims and thus are not entitled to a public apology on my platform per the terms of the original suggestion for mediation, I willfully agreed to accept the mediator’s decision to make a written apology on the basis of the purported lack of empathy in the article.

It’s a matter of principle that, in order to repair any potential damage to Jamhal’s reputation that stemmed from said article, the aforesaid apology must be made public on my platform in writing – the same manner in which the alleged wrong was done. Likewise, to repair the damage to my reputation, my accusers were expected to make a public verbal apology on their YouTube livestream in the same manner of their slander.

However, it would appear that they have no intention of getting on camera to deliver a sincere apology. Instead, a written apology, addressed to someone named “Hakim” (not me), was posted in the Community section of their YouTube channel and is being touted as their official public apology to me. For the record, their alleged apology is inadequate, insincere, and I do not accept it. The only form of apology I will accept from my accusers is one done in like manner to their slander (verbal, on camera, on a livestream on the same channel).

As a man of principle, I cannot bring myself to trust people who refuse to hold themselves accountable or who attempt to avoid accountability by taking advantage of loopholes or technicalities. This is especially true when it comes to people who are responsible for holding others accountable, as both accusers are – being heads of the Internal Review Board of the ISC.

Despite their lack of sincerity to right their wrongs, I’ve chosen to take the high road by issuing this sincere written apology for any lack of empathy they may have felt while reading my article(s). As with all my reporting of Moorish News, I try to remain as objective as possible and in doing so, I may not always consider the sensitivity of the topic nor the impact it may have on a Moor’s feelings.

Nevertheless, the matter has been settled and I have done my part to effectuate the appropriate redress. In the near future, I’ll be writing a detailed article about my 11-month quest for justice and the lack of accountability in the Moorish community. May Allah handle the rest.

“Whether you hate to love me or love to hate me, I still have love for you. But I will not allow that love to blind or silence me. Get right before you’re made to do so.”
