“For the Born and the Unborn” – The noble motto of the Sovereign State of Accompong, which speaks to the heart of indigenous peoples who have endured discrimination and oppression by European colonial governments, has been an inspirational force of progress for the Maroons of the island.
On March 21, 2022, under the leadership of Chief Richard Currie, the Trelawny Town Maroons of the Sovereign State of Accompong officially ratified the Maroon Constitution. A copy of which may also be viewed below.
This is undoubtedly a great leap forward for the Maroons on the island and other indigenous peoples of Moorish descent. It sets the precedent for what is possible when the people are united in one voice, in the continuation of the great works of Noble Drew Ali and Marcus Mosiah Garvey, to uplift fallen humanity and bring us back into the constitutional fold of government.
